Tri-Borough Unconscious Bias & Cultural Competence in Safeguarding Children Training
The Tri-Borough Safeguarding Children Partnership (Greenwich, Lewisham and Bexley) has commissioned Unconscious Bias & Cultural Competence in Safeguarding Children training for practitioners working with children and families and, who contribute to assessing, planning, intervening, and reviewing the needs of a child or young person on the following dates/times:
- Thursday 19th October 2023, 9:30am to 3:00pm
- Tuesday 30th January 2024, 9:30am to 3:00pm
There are 30 places per date available. This will operate on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will be open to determine if a further date is required.
Aims & Objectives :
- Increase understanding of the influences of culture and faith/belief systems on parenting;
- Display confidence in talking about their own and other people’s attitudes and beliefs – and how these might affect their judgment when providing services and therefore explore the role of bias in decision making;
- Demonstrate cultural competence and professional curiosity when leading or joining in assessments or offering any other services to children and their families;
- Understand the legislation and procedures for safeguarding;
- Outline the key local issues related to the course topics.
Delegates are responsible for ensuring they have management / budget holder approval prior to booking onto courses. This is in the event of your non-attendance or late cancellation where a fee of £75 will be applied.
Registration and booking is via the Lewisham Booking System REGISTER & BOOK HERE (you will need to create an account)
