Many of you would have seen that there has tragically been two child deaths recently, believed to have been caused by drowning in the bath, whilst their carer left them unattended. The GSCP undertook Rapid Review Meetings for both these children and a recommendation to undertake a Child Safeguarding Practice Review has been agreed for one of them.

The GSCP Learning, Training & Policy Work Group immediately circulated water/bathroom safety resources to all agencies across the partnership, to be shared with parents/carers and will be reviewing information and signposting that is currently shared with families and coordinate and deliver a campaign on general child safety awareness, including water safety. We will share more details with you in future newsletters.

Some of you will know that Angela Clayton and Emma Rodriguez left the GSCP Business Unit earlier this month to become Professional Educators in the Royal Borough of Greenwich Practice Academy which sits under Children’s Safeguarding & Social Care. I am sure you will join me in thanking them for their contribution to the Business Unit and wishing them best of luck in their new role.
